A Makerspace is a creative, DIY space where people can gather to create, invent, and learn. The Kickstarter to fund Peirce's Makerspace will purchase all kinds of fun things designed to spark our kids' creativity - materials such as electrical paint, inventor kits, squishy circuits - and provide them with opportunities to develop the STEM skills needed to meet the evolving needs of the job market or succeed as a startup.
We are fortunate to be part of a national program with MakerEd and Google to bring maker education to schools. Thanks to the help from the Digital Youth Network at DePaul University, we have been able to work on a strategy to bring making to our students at Peirce.
The Makerspace is building on the existing student interest in Robots.
The original goal of $1,500 to fund this Kickstarter was met by a very generous donor. The campaign goal has been updated and we are now aiming for $3,000 to fund all of Phase 1.
This is an All-or-Nothing fundraiser, meaning we only receive the funds if we reach our fundraising goal by the deadline of August 3, 2017 at 12:30 pm CST.
