Welcome to Helen C. Peirce School of International Studies
Dear new parents, caregivers and families,
On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family! We are thrilled to have you join us here at Helen C. Peirce School of International Studies, and we hope that your child will have a fulfilling and enriching experience. At our school, we take great pride in the work we do to build a culture of equity that centers belonging, inclusion and an anti racist practices. We believe that every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and supported, regardless of their background or identity. As such, we are committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity, promotes equity, and honors each student's unique perspective and experience across ability, ethnicity, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religion, and socio-economic status. We also understand that building an equitable school environment is intentional and does not come without work, which is often hard, sometimes messy and always calls upon the very best within all of us. Our school is actively working to develop principlesand practices based in Equity work centered by CPS. To address inequities, we have developed the following principles and are committed to living them actively: ● Model and embody behaviors that build our community into globally minded citizens. ● Seek to build understanding that creates the opportunity for all of us to become better. ● Be introspective while seeking to understand other perspectives. ● Empower individual voices with compassion and respect. ● Hear, listen and act from a place of empathy. We believe that diversity serves as our strength. By embracing our differences, holding complexity, showing up with humility, and striving for belonging and inclusivity, we create a rich and dynamic learning environment where all members can thrive. We are proud of the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives represented within our community, and we celebrate the unique gifts that each student brings. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to supporting our students' success. As such, we encourage you to get involved in your child's education and participate in school events and activities. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive community that nurtures each child's potential and fosters a love of learning. Once again, welcome to our school! We look forward to getting to know you and your family better and working together to provide the best possible education for your child. Warm regards, Lori Zaimi Principal |
