Technology

Perice students use technology to design, innovate, and solve problems in school or the community while exercising ethical digital citizenship and grasping and understanding basic and complex websites, programs, and apps.

Primary Years Programme - ICT  (Information Communication and Technology)
Students use technology and its tools
capably to solve problems while integrating technologies in as many subject areas as possible. Using a scaffolding approach, Peirce students acquire many tech tools beginning in kindergarten through 5th grade. In today's changing tech world, students can adapt and transfer skills to any new technologies.

Middle Years Programme Design Class
"Inquiry and problem-solving are at the heart of the subject group. MYP design requires the use of the design cycle as a tool, which provides the methodology used to structure the inquiry and analysis of problems, the development of feasible solutions, the creation of solutions, and the testing and evaluation of the solution. In MYP design, a solution can be defined as a model, prototype, product or system that students have developed and created independently." -- From the IB Design Cycle Handbook.

Welcome to the Peirce Maker's Lab
Peirce is on a mission to provide our community students with the STEM skills to meet the evolving needs of the job market or succeed as a startup. To accomplish this, we are building on the existing student interest in Robots.
Students in K-4th grade will be exposed to computational thinking with programmable toy robots like Dash & Dot and Spheros. 5th and 6th graders will explore complex problem solving using Lego robots. 7th-8th graders will work on capstone design challenge projects.

As an International Baccalaureate school, our teachers have a deep expertise in a variety of fun and engaging projects and hands-on making activities. Over the last few years we successfully implemented what is called a 1:1 computer strategy, which means each student has their own laptop or tablet to use during the school day. Our teachers led this technology foundation approach. We believe digital fabrication is a natural next step in our evolution.

Computer Teacher

My name is Ms. Andrade and I am the computer/Design Teacher at Peirce. I am a graduate of National Louis University where I pursued a Masters in Educational Technology. As the Tech Teacher, my goal is to instill in students a love of Coding (Computer Science) and Problem Solving. Technology and its gadgets are great tools to solve problems. It is this mentality I try to impart on students everyday, all day, from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

Please visit my website for information and curriculum updates and changes.
