After Hours @Peirce (formerly After School All-Stars)
Helen C. Peirce School of International Studies offers its students many opportunities to participate in a myriad of after school enrichment programs each year. We are proud of the dedication and creativity of Peirce teachers who teach many of the classes that students participate in throughout the year. After Hours @Peirce (AH@P) typically begins in late October and runs through the end of March. Information about programs offered and how to apply will be sent home with your student in late September or early October.

Design Dance
Hip Hop for K-3rd grade is an after-school class that's a great introduction for new and returning students who love to dance! This program follows the structure of a Hip Hop dance class and introduces young dancers to the basics of Hip Hop and Pop Music style while growing independence, self-expression and community. Over the course of the session, students will engage in social-emotional learning as they play in contemporary movement games; strengthen individual gross-motor skills; enhance memory function through group technical practice; self manage in improvisational activities; and activate free choice, self-expression and creative confidence. No special dress is required in this program, however students are encouraged to wear gym shoes and clothes they are comfortable moving in.

Mission Propelle
Girl power yoga is not about reiforcing gendered messages. Rather, it is about encouraging girls to embrace their truest selves, no matter how that
manifests. That’s why our program is grounded in yoga: a discipline that is neither competitive nor comparative. Yoga encourages mindfulness and self-acceptance.We complement yoga with a weekly reading drawn from Mission Propelle’s curriculum of 100+ storybooks. Our books showcase a diversity of female leaders – introverts, extroverts, science lovers, unicorn enthusiasts, and beyond! Our stories also showcase a diversity of family structures and living situations, inviting girls to see differences as sources of strength and beauty.
