Students Rights and Responsibilities
It is time for Peirce's annual review of the Chicago Public School Student Rights and Responsibilities, including the Student Code of Conduct (SCC). This resource is revised yearly and adopted by the Chicago Board of Education. The goal is to help create a safe and supportive learning environment for all CPS students and staff. The objective is transparency with clear expectations for responsible student behavior, as well as outlining restorative processes designed to address root causes of behaviors, repair harm, and promote social and emotional development.

We ask families to read the material, and encourage children to make responsible decisions and engage in safe, respectful behavior that promotes learning. The SCC is only a resource. It will take the collective efforts of students, parents, teachers, and administrators to create a safe learning environment where all students can excel.

Family Income Information
Each year, a portion of the school budget is determined based on data reported from the Family Income Form. Please help us by either emailing Lynn the attached form completed or dropping the form off at the main entrance of the school Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm. All information must be submitted to CPS by early October. Thank you!

Attendance Update
Peirce attendance is beyond AMAZING in remote learning - thank you for sticking with us and encouraging your children to continue learning in a virtual setting. Our year to date attendance is 96.84% with 100% of our students now able to access online learning. This has taken a great deal of support from the Attendance Task Force - who have worked tirelessly to get students connected to internet, distributing chromebooks and headsets and making many home visits, sitting side by side with families to support them with tech issues.

Attendance is still being taken during remote learning and it is very important for your child to attend classes. If your child will be absent please send an absence note to PeirceAbsenceNote@gmail.com or fill out this absence form that will then become their absence note.

Update on Peirce Solidarity Fund
Thanks to everyone for their support of the fund that we started over the summer. To date, we have raised close to $12,000. So far we have provided payments of $500 to 23 Peirce families. Families have reported using this cash assistance for things like rent payments, paying overdue bills, buying groceries, and getting much needed medical care for their children when they could not find a doctor who would take their insurance. All payments have remained anonymous except to the school staff members who have been helping out with the effort.

Please see this article about the wave of solidarity funds started by educators and community members across the city this summer. Peirce's fund flyer is featured at the top along with flyers from other school communities.

Thank you to the staff and community members who have helped out with the Solidarity Fund in various ways. We are continuing to accept contributions as well as requests for assistance. You can find us on Venmo @PeirceSolidarityFund and on PayPal, at PeirceSolidarityFund@gmail.com. If you are in need, please email us at PeirceSolidarityFund@gmail.com (Spanish or English).

U.S. Census - It's Not Too Late to Be Counted!

Health clinics. Fire departments. Schools. Even roads and highways. The census can shape many different aspects of your community.

Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year.

The results determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.
